[Last Night's Party] From Casino to The Woods

Above are just some of the beautiful people present at Casino (formally the Ludlow Manor) and The Woods. In all of my years spent haunting the Lower East Side, I never once heard the name Ludlow Manor, so perhaps the invention of Casino was a good idea. Casino was about as dark and smokey as you'd imagine most any venue in Manhattan, particularly on the LES, filled with a crop of downtown folk. Dark nail polish, bright red lips, lace, and heavy metal arm candy were on pretty much all of the women. The men were varied: anywhere from tattoos and long hair to cleaner cuts with collared shirts and denim. The music was good but it wasn't consistent. I felt as though the DJ allowed the momentum of the evening to die entirely too early considering the amount of people present in the venue (they had to have been near capacity). Management may want to think on that for upcoming events. 

The Woods virtually never fails. Tucked away in a seemingly remote section of Williamsburg, The Woods is always packed with people who just want to dance. And those people will dance until the venue closes. The drinks were noticeably cheaper than Casino (I mean, we're in Brooklyn) so the combination of the two made for the perfect evening for fun with friends. And for those of you looking for somewhere to "post up" and look for the opposite sex, The Woods is not the place. Try the meat market at Union Pool (also in Williamsburg); it is much closer to a subway station/bridge so you can make your getaway with whatever is on that night's menu.

[Fashion Bloggers] Gone Bowlin' with Ashley4Emergy

During NYFW, I had the pleasure of finally meeting fashion blogger Ashley for Ashley4Emergy. From the moment we first met, I knew that we were going to be friends. That is what I love about fashion blogging and the community -- the relationships that are built over similar interests via the web. 

Last week, Brooklyn Bowl (a bowling alley and concert venue in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY) announced on Twitter that the venue would be hosting free bowling and free shoe rentals all evening, for one day only. I immediately invited Ashley so we could hangout, outside of the hustle and bustle of fashion week. Needless to say, we had an amazing time!

The food at Brooklyn Bowl is provided by the same chefs from the Blue Ribbon restaurant chain and if you know anything about Blue Ribbon, you know about their famous fried chicken. I apologize for the lack of proper food porn images but we basically destroyed the 8 pieces we ordered within minutes of their arrival. I also discovered how absolutely delicious hot sauce and honey were together on fried chicken -- I highly recommend giving that combination a try. 

After a few hours of bowling -- our scores were so bad, they're laughable -- we stopped by Union Pool for a few drinks and a few laughs. I wish I were apart of some sort of local blogger network; I'd love to meet more of the young women whose lives that I check into almost daily. Perhaps a blogger event at Brooklyn Bowl? [I'm talking to you, owners of Brooklyn Bowl -- let's make that happen!]

Quite possibly the coolest furniture store I've ever been to, definitely check out from the source. You can either select from their pre-made and highly imaginative showroom stock or you can work with their design team and create your own piece from restored antique finds or some of the most exotic wood in the world. Ann, Michael and I had the pleasure of chatting with one of the owners of the company (see above) and he explained to us the importance of the process. At from the source, it's more than just creating a piece for mass consumption but rather something that will be appreciated and properly suited for the individual collector. Nice to see some brands are getting back to basics.

Why: For some the freshest tacos you'll eat in Brooklyn. Not to mention, you should definitely wash them down with Trophy's fantastic margaritas. With these 100 degree days in NYC that we've been having as of late, I promise you won't be disappointed.
