Orient Watches, is owned by Mark Kim, a graduate from Carnegie Mellon. Kim, who has been involved in the horology industry for most of his life, gained most of his knowledge from his father, who owned and operated a watch assembly factory with an excess of several hundred employees. 

What's rather unique about Orient Watches (other than the fact that most are hand assembled) is that they are mechanical. A mechanical watch is solely powered by a mainspring, without the use of electric power. A mainspring watch is wound by the movement of the arm on which it is worn, and it also stores energy. Translation: as you wear your watch, you power it!
