MY TEN PICKS FOR A FANTASY CHRISTMAS

I'm a firm believer in the philosophy, "If you're going to dream, dream big," so I did with this little fantasy Christmas Wish list. I'll be following up shortly with more affordable holiday gift ideas, but for now, dream with me in the land of luxury. 

1. Dannijo Bea Necklace: It is no secret that I'm thoroughly obsessed with Dannijo.  The Bea would be an excellent addition to my humble but colorful jewelry collection as a transition piece from day to evening. 
2. Dannijo Sinatra Necklace: Yet another fantastic piece from Dannijo for the Peter Pan collar aficionado. 
3. YSL Beastie Ring: I love that semi-precious stone is being held in what appears to be talons. Rings with animalistic accents are always a winner in my book.
4. Christian Louboutin Bibi 140 Suede Platform Pumps: Those pumps are not only classic but quite versatile, thanks to the nude color. 
5. Prada Butterfly Sunglasses: Although those particular Prada sunglasses are from an older season, they are still classic, especially for someone with my particular head shape and size. Unfortunately, I don't believe that they're in production anymore. 
6. YSL Tribute Sandals in Python: PETA is going to hate me for that one. I just noticed that somehow, that sandal dropped from the thousands to the hundreds -- talk about a recession special!
7. Kara Ross Small Shirt Cuff: PETA is going to hate me for that one as well. I'm pretty sure that Ross uses lizard skin but I wouldn't lose sleep over that bracelet. 
8. Celine Luggage Tote: The tote speaks for itself.
9. Antik Batik Lisa Sequin Dress: I randomly came across the Lisa dress on sale somewhere months ago. Since then, I've been dying to get my hands on her -- she'd be perfect for New Years Eve (not that I have any plans). 
10. Chanel Jumbo Flap: As if I even need to tell you, person on a fashion blog, why I want/need that bag. 

Disappointed (humph!)

If you follow my blog, then you'll know that I am not a huge fan of hypocrites. Although I am not a friend to Karl Lagerfeld or Ann Demeulemeester, I am so upset and shocked that Jane from Sea of Shoes would have the audacity to post her anger at designer for an intellectual property matter. 

As you know, Jane has always been so proud of her monstrous shoe collection. Jane has been photographed wearing footwear from notable designers such as Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu and of course, Ann Demeulemeester on many occasions. It must have been a real sting to see Jane's knock-off collection on Urban Outfitters back in October 2009 for namely, Lagerfeld, Miuccia and Demeulemeester.  Here are the originals, courtesy of Jane:

I was disappointed to see Jane's blatant shoe copies of well-known originals. Now, I am even more disappointed to see a post on her blog attacking another designer for committing the same intellectual property crime. Shame on Jane for taking credit for designs that were not hers for the sake of re-lining her already golden pockets. Shame on Jane, again, for calling the kettle black for doing the very same thing.

Dreams don't always come shoe: The Clog Edition

I think the last time that I wore a pair of clogs, I was in high school. I remember being so intensely in love with them [cue the undulating fabric of time for my shoe flashback] They were a heather gray flannel upper, with brass studs connecting the upper to the solid, chocolate rich wood sole. They were wedge clogs that I purchased from J. Crew, one of my favorite high school shopping haunts. I would wear them in the 14 inches of snow that we'd have during the winters and again during the showers of April. I walked 3 miles in them daily, to-and-from the train station in my town to my house. I literally wore those shoes until the rubber soles wore off and continued to wear them, wearing down the wood to splinters. [cue again the undulating fabric of time bringing us back to reality]

However, I am not so sure that I am willing to resurrect, for me, the passion of the clog. Some styles are better left in the tomb.

The fashion forecast for spring 2010 is inundated with clogs thanks to the likes of Mary - Kate and Ashley Olsen, oh, and Chanel's Spring 2010 collection. From the classic to the crazy, there's a sole-satisfaction for everyone. Everyone but me. And though there was a time in my life when I, too, indulged in le clog, I prefer to let it remain that way -- an undulating fabric of time shoe flashback.
