Melrose Flea Market

Best. Sunday. Ever. 

My friend Aliza and I met up with Alicia to check out the Melrose Flea Market this past Sunday. 

Where:  Fairfax High School, 7850 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA

What to expect: There's a $2 entry fee and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong Alicia) this particular flea occurs every Sunday. Though most of the vendors carried vintage/artisan pieces, I did notice a few vendors with pieces that appeared to be straight out of an Oriental Trading Company catalog. Also, if you see price tagged items, don't even bother trying to bargain. You'll either be greeted with a "take it or leave it" or some sad story about how much the piece actually retails for and how you're getting it at a steal. This is a flea market, not a shopping soap opera.

What to eat: The tamale stand. The first chicken tamale I had was so good, that I immediately ordered another one for the road. 

What I snagged: A gold wolf's head ring ($10), a turquoise frog ring ($16) and a gold necklace with small feather pendant ($5). 

Must see: Definitely check out Possession Vintage for sunglasses. See some of the above for his pretty awesome selection in nice face wear.

When bloggers unite / USC

These images were taken at an outdoor fashion show that I attended with fellow bloggers Alicia and Ev'Yan at the University of Southern California. It was such a pleasure to meet these girls, especially since they've been friends in my head after reading their blogs.

[And can we take a minute to note how beautiful they are? Honestly, my pictures don't do either of them justice.]

I believe the theme of the show was "sex in public" and somehow that had something to do with fashion. America's Next Top Model winner from Cycle Idon'tfuckingknow Eva Pigford hosted the event along with a USC student. Also, some artists that I wasn't terribly familiar with performed their music between shows. Despite being insanely cold (what's going on with the weather southern California?) and confused by the fashion media madness taking place on stage and on the jumbo screen, I really enjoyed myself. Just being around  some of my favorite female bloggers was awesomeness in and of itself. Hopefully, I can add these lovely ladies to my "people to see" list during my next visit to the west coast.
