[Vanity Fair] The sky is falling

I absolutely love the American Apparel Chiffon Oversized Button Up. I was concerned that the roominess of the button up would overwhelm me but that wasn't an issue. In fact, the roominess has allowed me to wear the button up in a variety of ways: tucked into a high waist skirt or jean, untucked over same, tied up in the front -- you really can't go wrong with the button up. 

Although I'm not a huge fan of belting tops, my D-Ring belt was the perfect accessory. I don't own a lot of jewelry, so the belt operated as such. Thus the button up went from being a nod to menswear to a feminine tunic. Expect to see future posts with the button up; the ease of wear, comfort and overall sexiness will keep that top in heavy rotation for me this season.

Every woman should possess a healthy amount of black clothing in her wardrobe. I always find myself reaching for a black jacket, skirt or blouse whenever I'm in need of a safe and stylish touch to an outfit. 

The Zara jacket that I'm wearing has been worn at least a dozen times since I purchased it late this past summer. The jacket is just so versatile. In the first image, I'm wearing it without the zippered belt. In the final image, I'm wearing it with the zipper belt, but slightly ajar.  There's something sort of Chanel about it; every look is instantly made more sophisticated because of it. And being black only makes the jacket that more fabulous. It is by far, my favorite piece going into the fall/winter seasons.

I'm very thankful for the pieces that American Apparel sent over for me to wear. It's been fun incorporating the various lace tees and petticoats into my fall wardrobe. The above outfit was what I wore to an event at Tamsen Z. Founded by Ann Zif, Tamsen Z is a luxury jewelry collection comprised of the rarest and most beautiful gemstones, diamonds and pearls fashioned around their natural forms.

Since the event was on Madison Avenue, I did my best to channel my inner Blair Waldorf and have a little Upper East Side fun. Although typically not something I'd gravitate towards, American Apparel's Reversible Petticoat was just what I needed. The petticoat gave my look the right amount of playful volume for a somewhat serious event. It's funny, I didn't think I could pull of such a darling petticoat outside of Halloween; I can't wait to try other fun looks for fall with it!
